Learning Curve

By Peggy Roalf   Wednesday September 25, 2013

Photographers: If your 90% perspiration could use a 10% boost of inspiration, the menu of workshops at Photoville this weekend might be just what’s wanted. Starting Thursday, September 26, Luminance/Photoshelter offers a series of 45-minute talks featuring industry experts and top photographers on subjects as divers as copyright protection; the photo shoot; getting your work into a gallery; publishing your photobook; and so much more.

That’s just the beginning—the weekend continues with hands-on photo workshops on future and present/past sides of lens work, from making a cyanoprint to winding bulk film for analogue 35mm shooting to lighting for a fashion shoot.

Last weekend I took British photographer David Graham’s Great Portraits in 15 Seconds workshop. Really. He has the inside edge on getting you there. But that was last weekend; this is this weekend. Here’s the link. Photos, below: two of the lovely booth minders at Photoville [above, from Booklyn; below, from PDN]. Stop and say hello while you're there!]
