Canon officially announced the latest addition to its line of DSLRs, the EOS-1D C. The camera features an 18.1-megapixel full frame sensor. It’s the first Canon DSLR that can record video at 4K resolution (4096 x 2160). When it’s available—sometime in 2012—the 1D C will retail for $15,000 . The Verge rightly says the camera is all about the video. The British Journal of Photography calls the camera “groundbreaking.” Vincent Laforet says 4K is the future—but only as production houses upgrade equipment to support it.
