What’s that featured on Google’s home page today? A tribute to Eadweard J. Muybridge, known by many as the father of the motion picture. Muybridge was born 182 years ago, on April 9, 1830, in Surrey, England. It was in the 1870s that he helped California tycoon Leland Stanford determine whether all four of a horse’s hooves left the ground during a gallop by inventing an ingenious way to record motion. And all that was before he shot his wife’s lover in the crime of the century. The Washington Post has the story.
