For this project I used the gouache resist technique, consisting of a gouache underpainting, covering the whole image with ink, then running it all under water. Ink and gouache were then used over top of the piece for finishing touches.
I wanted to depict an ironic athlete with this piece, and a running sloth was the winning solution. The 131 on his runner tag symbolized the 13.1 miles in a half marathon in which I was training for at the time- and didn't complete. However, this piece did come from my failed attempt!
