Books: "Eddie Adams: Bigger Than the Frame"

Photojournalist Eddie Adams, best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning photo of a Vietnamese general in Saigon executing a Viet Cong suspect, never published a career retrospective during his lifetime. Now that retrospective has arrived with the book Eddie Adams: Bigger Than the Frame, from the University of Texas Press. The book presents the photographer’s famous and lesser-known work from the 1950s through the early 2000s, including memorable news photos and celebrity portraits, notes the Daily Mail.   Read the full Story >>

Tech News: DJI and Hasselblad Unveil 100MP Drone Photo Platform

DJI and Hasselblad recently unveiled  what the company’s call  “the world’s first 100-Megapixel integrated aerial photography platform.” The device combines DJI’s M600 Pro drone and Ronin-MX Gimbal with a Hasselblad H6D-100c medium format camera, This is the second collaboration between Hasselblad and DJI, which reportedly bought a controlling stake in the medium format camera company in January. Industry News: VideoBlocks Takes On The Stock Photo Business

VideoBlocks, a subscription-based stock video service that made a splash by launching an Uber-style marketplace for buying one-off clips, is now moving into the stock photography business, reports MediaPost.  The new service is now open for photographers who want to contribute their images. As with its video offering, VideoBlocks will return all the money it makes from selling images in its marketplace directly to photographers. It can offer this 100 percent commission because its business model relies on selling subscriptions rather than one-off photos, adds TechCrunch.   Read the full Story >>

“I lived in the islands of the Paraná River Delta in Argentina for three years. Far away from the city, I photographed the community living there and connected with the river, nature and the local people.” So writes Buenos Aires, Argentina-based photographer Alejandro Chaskielberg, whose staged portraits of people in the river delta region, shot at night with a large-format camera and illuminated by the full moon, capture a way of life that is shaped by a world of flowing water.
