Art News: Lagerfeld Photo Legacy Goes to the Blockchain

The legendary fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019, was also an accomplished photographer. Eric Pfrunder, Lagerfeld’s longtime confidante, inherited his personal photographic archive, and now, reports Vogue Business, rather than immediately sell the photos at auction or stage a gallery or museum show, Pfrunder has decided to register the collection on the Lukso blockchain, which is building a network for fashion and lifestyle. The photos will be released, in intervals in formats including exhibitions and books, and will eventually take the form of digital copies, limited editions, physical copies and merchandise, adds Vogue.
