In Focus: Growing Old Amid Shelling and Frostbite in Ukraine

Bronstein (see our profile) has covered the long war in Afghanistan and the plight of the Rohingya in Myanmar and Bangladesh; her new work, “Ukraine’s War: A Dire Situation — The Elderly,” looks at the conflict in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region, which has resulted in more than 10,000 deaths and the displacement of 1.6 million people.
