By David Schonauer   Monday June 19, 2017

Japanese photographer Keiichi Tahara, whose black-and-white images captured the interplay of landscape and light, died on June 6, reports L’Oeil de la Photographie, citing an announcement from the Kyotophographie photography festival. Tahara began taking pictures at the age of twelve and at age 26 won the Grand Prix de la Jeune Photography at the Les Rencontres d’Arles festival. He later expanded his work to include sculpture, installations, and filmmaking. He also photographed examples of art nouveau architecture, which he discovered during his travels across Europe.
