Art News: The Met Makes 375K Public Domain Images Available

New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced that more than 375,000 public domain images from its collection of art are now available online for unrestricted use. The Met has teamed up with Creative Commons, Wikimedia, Artstor, Digital Public Library of America, Art Resource, and Pinterest to host and distribute its collection of photography, paintings and sculpture. There is also a public GitHub repository  of the images, notes Fortune. The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam already has its collections online, as do other institutions, adds Dazed.
