Sony has unveiled a big weapon in the never-ending, always-escalating war for DSLR supremacy: Its new flagship professional camera, the A99, is, as PetaPixel notes, the world’s first pellicle mirror full-frame digital camera, combining the image-quality benefits of having a large sensor with the speed benefits of having a semi-transparent mirror. It features a 24MP full-frame sensor, an ISO range of 50-25600, 6fps continuous-shooting, 14-bit RAW files, a viewfinder with 100-percent coverage, a three-inch LCD that tilts in three directions, and a high-res OLED EVF. Price: $2,799.99. Bottom line: “The A99 is a hell of a camera,” says Fstoppers.
