Steidl x Strand 2016
For the second year running, Steidl takes over Strand Books’ Rare Book Room for a series of presentations, readings and discussions about photo books. As many who attended Gerhard Steidl’s 2015 talk Print is Not Dead will remember, these are go-to events, this year with 40 new books, stage talks and copies of the Fall 2016 catalogue on hand.
Also on hand will be: Gerhard Steidl, publisher/designer, Steidl Verlag; photographers William Eggleston, Robert Polidori, Joel Sternfeld, Frank Gohlke, Mark Peterson, Bruce Davidson, Anna Mia Davidson, Philip Trager, Momney Mueller Westernhagen; curator Brian Wallis, and more.

Robert Polidori will give a lecture on making a book with Steidl, giving insight into his work, followed by a signing and launch of Mr. Polidori’s new books, Hotel Petra and 60 Feet Road - Bhatiya Nagar Facades. Admission

Talk and introduction of the new fall program by publisher Gerhard Steidl, followed by a conversation with photographers Joel Sternfeld, Frank Gohlke and author Suketu Mehta, who are launching and will sign copies of their new book Landscape as Longing about Queens. Admission

Mark Peterson in conversation discussing his project and book Political Theater followed by a book launch and signing. Admission

Brian Wallis is hosting a talk with Bruce Davidson and Anna Mia Davidson about the intersection in time of their careers crossing paths and the unique dynamic between father and daughter. The talk will be followed by book signing of Ana Mia’s Cuba and Bruce’s various titles published by Steidl. Admission
