The Week of Making is an opportunity to for individuals in communities throughout the U.S. to participate in Making activities locally, celebrating the innovation, ingenuity and creativity of Makers. Info

Artist Roundtable, catalogue launch and reception: Queering the BibliObject. Planned in conjunction with Center for Book Arts Spring 2016 Main Gallery Exhibition, Queering the BibliObject, and in honor of Pride Week, artists Kris Grey, Aaron Krach, and Aaron McIntosh, and guest curator John Chaich will discuss artworks in the galleries. A reception will follow, and the exhibition catalogue will be available for purchase. The exhibition catalogue features essays by Heather K. Love, Ph.D. (University of Pennsylvania) on affect and over-attachment and Scott Herring, Ph.D. (Indiana University, Bloomington) on queer objecthood.

The New York Botanical Garden is hosting more than 20 established plein-air artists, who will be working throughout the Garden. You can watch them in action throughout the day using various media from oils to watercolor to pen and ink. Finished art will be made available for purchase by the individual artists on their websites.

Summer Solstice at Socrates. In addition to the 30th Anniversary exhibitions, Socrates Sculpture celebrates the longest day with Afro-Brazilian drumming Capoeira demonstrations, a sunset kayak paddle and delicious Brazilian BBQ. Info
