Bring to Light | Nuit Blanche 2011

By Peggy Roalf   Friday September 30, 2011

Night’s magic will be the star of the weekend around the globe this Saturday as 25 cities celebrate Nuit Blanche (French for “white night” or “all-nighter). This after-dark arts festival, which originated in Paris in 2001, assumes different forms in different places. New York’s second installation takes place along the waterfront in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, from 6 pm to midnight.

Bring to Light, as the New York festival is called, has invited over 60 emerging and established artists to make site-specific installations of light, sound, performance and projection art—creating an immersive spectacle for thousands of visitors to re-imagine public space and civic life. Bring to Light will transform streets, parks and the industrial waterfront of Greenpoint, set against dramatic views of the Manhattan skyline beyond. The evening is sure to be a beyond-happening event, with live music and soundtracks all around. For a preview, visit the Artists’ page on the website. Directions.
